“The Three Degrees” showed us how it was done

This photo shows two style staples that everyone was sporting during the 1970s. Well, at least every African-American was sporting: bell-bottom pants and a giant afro. Here is the singing trio “The Three Degrees,” modeling some of the time’s biggest trends.

This iteration, which included Sheila Ferguson, Valerie Holiday, and Fayette Pinkney, was responsible for some of the group’s biggest hits. Tie-front crop tops, big wavy hair, and pants that were tight through the hips and flared at the ankles.
