Aside from entertaining us via the screen, Hollywood has long been in the business of giving us adorable couples. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are one of the most discussed Hollywood couples. Right from when they first met on set to their separation, we’ve been following their rollercoaster relationship for two decades. Here is a breakdown of the lovers’ relationship.
The first (magical) meeting
In 2002, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck first met on the set of their movie, Gigli. At that time, Jennifer Lopez was still married to her second husband, Cris Judd. However, that didn’t stop the duo from becoming friends.

According to Ben Affleck, he and JLo were friends in a comfortable way and just wanted each other to be happy. Jennifer ended things with Cris in 2003, and then her relationship with Ben became official a while later.
Publicity hits hard
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were among the first celebrity couples to get a hybrid couple name(Bennifer). Paparazzi hounded them at every event they appeared, and this brought about negative effects.

The couple faced too much pressure in 2003 when their engagement was still young. According to Jennifer, the press pressure was crazy. In a recent interview, Ben reflected on the racist and sexist things that were said about the singer and actress.
Things fall apart (temporarily)
On the 10th of September, 2003, Ben and Jennifer’s wedding was postponed three days before the set date. Although they rekindled their relationship after the canceled wedding, the couple officially went their separate ways in January 2004.

The overwhelming media coverage was reportedly the major factor in the couple’s separation. However, over a decade later, Jennifer said there was genuine love between her and Ben despite their rocky relationship. In the years following their split, they remained distant friends.
Rising from the ashes
In the second half of 2021, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez started spending time with each other again. She posted photos of him on Instagram on his 52nd birthday in July; they attended their first Met Gala together in September, where they shared a kiss.

So, it didn’t come as much of a surprise when Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez got engaged in April 2022. The actress and singer announced the engagement to her fans on social media after sending a mail featuring a clip of her admiring her green diamond ring to her inner circle.
Sealing the deal permanently
On the 16th of July, 2022, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez got married in Las Vegas. Although they’ve both been married before, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez couldn’t hide their excitement about their new union.

In August 2022, the couple celebrated their marriage in Georgia with their family and friends. After their Georgian ceremony, Ben and Jennifer went to Italy for their honeymoon. On November 8, 2022, Jennifer says she took Ben’s last name.
