Here Are The Highlights Of Queen Elizabeth II’s Life In The 60s

No matter what side of the political spectrum you find yourself on, you cannot deny that Queen Elizabeth II was one of the most important figures of the 20th century. She has had quite an eventful mandate throughout the 75 years she spent as queen. If we had to tell you her whole life in one article, we would be here all day. A Royal baby!

Right as the decade started, Queen Elizabeth welcomed her third child, Prince Andrew. He was the first baby born to a reigning monarch for over a hundred years. The last one was the birth of Princess Beatrice, Queen Victoria’s youngest child, in 1857.

With Prince Andrew’s birth in 1960, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh decided that they wanted their direct descendants to be distinguished from the rest of the Royal Family. So, the family name changed to Mountbatten-Windsor.
