In the 30s, the competition between tobacco producers was rough. Everyone wanted to dominate the cigarette business. Hence, each company had to make its product stand out and promote its brand so that customers would choose them above the rest.

Player’s Cigarettes couldn’t stay out of the trading card trend. Thus, in 1938, they released a unique set of 50 cards with illustrations of film stars. They truly stood out from the rest because they had a short biography about each celebrity on the flip side. Wow!
