Ah, train rides. Is there anything more beautiful than traveling across the country in a cozy wagon as you look outside the window and fall in love with every American landscape? However, people didn’t think that way in 1864.
Long before trains were the massive vehicles we know and love today, they were mere stagecoaches and wagons. And, honestly, traveling at no more than five miles per hour on an uncomfortable wooden seat for an entire day must’ve been quite an unpleasant experience.
