The 70s Were A Terrific Decade For NASA, And These Important Events Prove It

This decade was famous for the bell-bottom trend and the rise of disco, but it was also an era of technological innovation and advances regarding space exploration. After the first crewed lunar landing in July 1969, NASA consolidated its position as the winner of the Space Race. But that’s not all. The five final flights of the Apollo Program

In the heat of rising Cold War tensions, NASA launched the Apollo Program, a series of expeditions to space that intended to broaden our understanding of the universe. Little did the agency know, though, that one of this program’s missions would take humans to the Moon in 1969.

But that wasn’t the only thing that the Apollo Program achieved. In the early 70s, different astronauts traveled to Earth’s natural satellite in five separate flights, demonstrating that NASA could successfully complete complex manned missions without any casualties. What a giant leap for mankind!
