The Thing (1982)
Are you a big fan of those movies that give you a claustrophobic feeling and a sense of dread that you can’t seem to shake off? If so, you should definitely see Carpenter’s The Thing, a remake of the 50s sci-fi classic.
What turns this film into a masterpiece isn’t its disturbing special effects but the allegory behind it. You may not realize it at first, but The Thing basically turned the collective fear of an unseen enemy that arose during the Cold War into a funhouse of pure terror. Isn’t that brilliant?
