Automatic cart unloading: An A&P first

Many of you might remember The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company or A&P. This American grocery store chain operated from 1859 to 2015. A&P was the largest grocery retailer in the United States from 1915 to 1975.

However, A&P’s decline began after World War II, when it was unable to keep up with the competition. Despite a brief revival in the early 2000s, the company ceased operations in 2015. Here is a method of pushing your cart up to the checkout and having it open and empty onto the conveyor belt.
