This Is How Supermarkets & Grocery Stores Looked Like In The 1960s

It is probably not Thursday, but we will take a throwback journey back to May 1969, when the massive Fisher Foods Office & Distribution Center in Ohio opened its doors. This was one of Ohio’s largest grocery and supermarket chains in the late 1960s.

Fisher Bros opened its first self-service “master market” in 1937. In 1961, the name was changed to Fisher Foods, Inc. to reflect changes in the company’s operations. Fisher was the largest retail food distributor in Cleveland until the 1960s, when its sales and market share began to decline.
