Dunkin’ Donuts
“America runs on Dunkin'” appears to be a fairly accurate statement when you consider the chain serves more than three million customers each day. In 1948, caterer William Rosenberg opened the shop in Quincy, Massachusetts, serving coffee and donuts to locals.
But not many foodies know that the chain’s original name was not Dunkin’ Donuts. It was originally known as Open Kettle. The company was renamed Dunkin’ Donuts in 1950. And now, it is just Dunkin’. Nowadays, the original Dunkin’ Donuts in Quincy has been restored to its 1950s glory.
